Marathon training philosophies vary on how often you can trade a run for cross training and how many miles you need to be logging per week.
In the early weeks of training, I throw both opinions out the window. As long as I’m getting moving and building strength, I’m doing something right. For me, it’s most important to keep running fun. I also want to maintain the habit of waking up to work out.
Saturday, I traded my five mile “long” run (hardly a long run distance) for two classes at GRIT Fitness. I love the community and encouraging vibe and a new studio just opened closer to home. My arms are sore today, so I know the switch was worth it.
