Tonight was the most popular race of the year in Dallas (besides the marathon). The Katy Trail 5K sells out every year and brings in another 5K of participants.
I was ready to PR. I slept well the night before. I stayed hydrated all day. I ate strategically. I took some nuun in my water right beforehand. The temperatures were [just a couple degrees] cooler than usual. Everything seemed to be in my favor.
The race became an obstacle course and sometimes just a wall of people. I should be happy I even made it in under 27 minutes with the amount of dodging that took place. This race is more about the after party. I ate more than enough for dinner with all the wonderful free vendors.
What really made this race amazing was the team we put together “Corré Cerveza” for Honduras and our Honduran-themed costumes. We attracted plenty of attention at the after party and had lots of fun reuniting with all of our other running friends.
